March 22, 2007: Family Values & right to privacy

I love how now that the playing field is made up of Democratic candidates who have intensely loyal marriages and Republicans who (except for Romney) have had multiple marriages and admissions of infidelity, etc., now the party of "family values" says we shouldn't pay much attention to the candidates personal lives. Hypocrites!

Why is it that Conservatives love to bring up Clinton when it serves their purpose, but forget the actual facts when confronted with them. Case in point: press secretary Tony Snow was read his own column from the Clinton Impeachment era, which echos the situation surrounding the White House and Alberto Gonzalez today. What's good for the goose...

And one last thought: why is it that the White House will not allow advisors to testify under oath, provide transcripts, or release all emails regarding the U.S. Attorney firings, yet it is perfectly okay for the government to overreach and invade regular American citizens' privacy by tapping phones, emails, tracking Internet records, etc? What makes them special? At least they are being asked for it. The rest of us do not receive that courtesy.
