May 4, 2006:
So, the verdict for Moussaoui is in and it's life in prison. And not easy life, but life in seclusion, cut off from all human contact. One of the survivor's family members nailed it when they said "today is the last day anyone will see Moussaoui's name in the news." All the media attention and martyrdom he craves is gone after sentencing.
Obviosly, reaction is mixed, and I can understand the familes who want the ultimate justice for the loss of their loved ones, but Moussaoui is not their man, as much as he want to be important, he just isn't.
Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani stated in a press conference that if Moussaoui had told the truth, then we could have stopped 9-11. This is not true, and the evidence proves that perhaps, we could have stopped one plane from taking off, but the FBI already knew what Moussaoui knew and still did nothing. And on Hardball, Congressman Peter King and Chris Matthews discussed placing the U.N. in the rebuilt Freedom Tower, so that if an attack happens again, the whole world would feel the effects of terrorism, and not just NY and the US.
What??? The world has never experienced terrorism before 9-11?
Tell that to England and Ireland. Tell that to Spain, France, Russia, and all of Europe who have fought more wars on their own soil than Americans have even participated in. Tell that to Japan. Tell that to Israel and all of the countries in the Middle East. It is this ignorant "America first and only" mentality that makes it hard for the rest of the world – including our allies – to have any sympathy for us, when we see ourselves as the only victims of terrorism.
