November 22, 2006:

With the election past and the holidays approaching, I have been lax in my duties. So, here are some quick info-bites on what has been going on, while you digest your Thanksgiving dinner. Enjoy!

For the past two weeks since the election, all the Liberal Media can focus on is Speaker-Elect Nancy Pelosi, her “San Francisco Liberalness”, her outfits, and her losing battles already before she even takes a position of power. If it were not for Michael Richard’s unfortunate outbursts and OJ’s attempts to cash in one more time on the past, the media would still be harping on her. Compare the way the media is treating the Democratic victory with the Republican Congressional takeover of 1994.

Next, Conservatives are harping on Charlie Rangel for suggesting we bring back the draft, even though Conservatives like McCain are calling for at least 20,000 more troops in Iraq. Well, where are they going to come from? Critics call Rangel "racist" for suggesting this is a "black/white thing", while in fact, it is a class thing. There are thousands of poor whites from America's heartland serving. Rangel is suggesting that if richer constituents were forced to send their beloved sons and daughters that perhaps we would not be so eager to jump on every war suggested by the neo-cons. Lawrence O'Donnell has a good piece about Rangel at HuffPost.

Another assassination in Lebanon threatens the already unstable pro-Western democratic government. All fingers are pointing to Syria, but as with the Hariri assassination, Syria had nothing to gain, and lost everything if that was indeed a government sponsored action. Now while some pro Syrian forces are likely responsible, to blame this on the government of Syria is like blaming a few mortars falling into Israel on all of the Palestinian Authority. Come to think of it, it's exactly like that. Why? Because this is the Middle East and the U.S. blames whatever government we conveniently need to to strong-arm at that moment.

You would think that with America going on and on about democracy and freedom that the U.S. would have gotten right in there after Israel leveled the country and offered it’s support. But I forgot, it was because the U.S. green-lighted the Israeli attack and supplied the F-16s and bombs that Lebanon has become even less pro-West. So now when President Bush demands an investigation, his authority carries as much weight as the Lebanese bridges that Israel bombed.

After months of people saying Bush should speak to Syria and Iran, those two countries have taken it upon themselves to talk with the Iraqi Prime Minister that we propped up. Yet another diplomatic chance blown by the lack of a State Department. We should have organized it, and mediated it… now we have to trust countries that our government have labeled “evil” to do the right thing.

Can some one please tell me why they still think Bush is a great leader, and why exactly we should not be Impeaching his entire administration?
