October 30, 2006:
We now know one of the topics discussed in the President's behind closed doors secret meeting with the Right-Wing media figures. It seems the phrase "stay the course" has been retired, and a new strategic question has been issues: "do you want the U.S. to win in Iraq?"
This question has been popping up in media appearances by Republican candidates and Right-Wingnuts alike. O'Reilly used it on Letterman (to little affect), and Lynn Cheney used it on Wolf Blitzer (repeating it from Rep. Duncan Hunter). Besides her blasting Wolf, she took a shot at Jim Webb for writing racy items into his novels, while denying that her own novels featured similar language. Between Lynn and her husband's previous performance where he came out in favor of torture, I would caution children to stay away from the Cheney's house on Halloween.
Aside from that, the remaining Republican strategy appears to be the following:
• Resort to name calling (George "Macaca" Allen)
• Race baiting (against Harold Ford in Tenn.),
• Attacking the messenger (ie: Michael J. Fox attacked by all pundidts for being sick and promoting scientific research; and Al Franken, poorly Photoshoped)
In a word, the Republicans have nothing to run on.
