September 12, 2006:

My main page memorial speaks to my feelings on the politics of the fifth anniversary of 9-11. And I could never put things as eloquently as this generation's accidental Edward R. Murrow, Keith Olberman. Read his 9-11 Commentary here.

For me, I just want to say that as a resident of New Jersey having grown up in the shadow of the Twin Towers, I can think of no better memorial than the yearly twin pillars of light that can be seen for miles. It s a silent yet grandiose reminder of not only that fateful event, but of the buildings that defined a skyline. The light that reaches for the heavens is often brighter in pictures and photographs than the actual beams, especially if they are seen from a great distance, yet the power of those two beams of light fading out as they enter the starry sky is not only silent, but evokes silence. Peace.

A truly fitting memorial. Hopefully they will continue this tradition long after the real memorial is erected.
